It was revealed that the suspect was the commander of one of the SSO units, who was recruited by the Russians even before the full-scale war began. This occurred through acquaintances he had in Russia, with whom he maintained contact.

However, he was "reactivated" in the spring of 2024, with the task of relaying the combat operation plans of the Ukrainian forces within Russian territory. Specifically, this included information on the reconnaissance and sabotage raids conducted by Ukrainian special forces beyond the front lines in the Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and Crimean directions.

The detained individual exploited his official position to gather information regarding the planned routes of Ukrainian military personnel, their armaments, and objectives.

The Russians intended to use this information to target Ukrainian special forces on the front line or in temporarily occupied areas of southern Ukraine.

The military counterintelligence of the SBU documented the crimes of the SSO lieutenant colonel and apprehended him. Concurrently, measures were taken to secure the locations of the Defense Forces.

The detainee has been informed of the suspicion of treason committed under martial law (under part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He is currently in custody, facing a life sentence with asset confiscation.
