NYT: Украина акцентирует внимание на обеспечении своей безопасности вместо возврата оккупированных земель.

This is reported by the New York Times, citing an unnamed Ukrainian official.

The publication notes that Ukraine is currently considering the possibility of an "accelerated negotiation schedule," as advocated by newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump. Consequently, securing safety guarantees is as crucial for Kyiv as determining where the ceasefire line might be drawn.

Roman Kostenko, secretary of the parliamentary committee on national security, defense, and intelligence, commented to NYT that if negotiations do take place, they must be based on security guarantees. He also added that Ukraine will not officially renounce its territories currently under Russian occupation.

Another high-ranking Ukrainian official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, stated: "The territorial issue is extremely important, but it is still a secondary matter. The primary concern is security guarantees."

Recall that earlier, the head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak, mentioned that for negotiations with Russia to commence, it must withdraw to positions held before the onset of full-scale war.
