This was reported by the Balkan service of "Radio Liberty".

Naumov was also ordered to pay a fine of 200,000 dinars (1,700 euros). The Supreme Court in Niš has additionally imposed a five-year entry ban into Serbia for Naumov, with the stipulation that the time served will not be counted towards the aforementioned measure.

The appellate court must confirm the court's decision for it to become final.

More Context

Andrey Naumov is the former head of the internal security department of the Security Service of Ukraine, who was referred to as the "right hand" of the former SBU head Ivan Bakanov. In April 2022, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stripped him of the rank of brigadier general and labeled him a "traitor." According to reports from "Schemes," he left the country just hours before Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, while law enforcement was conducting searches at his residence as part of a treason investigation.

The former SBU officer was arrested in Serbia in early June 2022 on charges of money laundering. During the trial, Naumov denied the investigation's allegations and claimed the funds were his personal money.

Ukraine requested Naumov's extradition from Serbia, as Ukrainian investigators suspect him of fraud, embezzlement, and abuse of power. However, the Supreme Court in Niš rejected Kyiv's extradition request, and the Appellate Court upheld this ruling. Naumov himself opposed extradition to Ukraine, arguing that his safety would be at risk in that scenario.

Ultimately, in December 2023, Naumov was released and remained in Serbia awaiting the final verdict. Additionally, the Serbian court overturned the first-instance verdict. Ukrainian investigators have placed Naumov on an international wanted list.

The former official claims that a discrediting campaign against him in Ukraine was orchestrated by Deputy Head of the President's Office Oleg Tatarov and former Deputy Andrey Smirnov.
