On the morning of December 16, an accident occurred on the Starokyivska road in the Odesa region, resulting in injuries to four individuals. Among them was a serviceman of the National Guard of Ukraine.
This information was reported by the National Police of Ukraine.
According to preliminary data from the police, around 5:00 AM, a 51-year-old driver of a Ford vehicle collided with a Honda that had stopped for a document check at a checkpoint.
It was reported that the Honda was being driven by a 21-year-old driver. Due to the force of the impact, the Ford was pushed aside, subsequently hitting the guard who was present at the checkpoint.
The police added that both drivers sustained injuries, as well as a 27-year-old passenger in the Ford and a 37-year-old serviceman of the NGU.
All injured individuals were transported to the hospital with varying degrees of injuries.
Law enforcement authorities determined that the Ford driver exhibited signs of alcohol intoxication. Blood samples were taken from both drivers to confirm this fact, with results to be known later.
Investigators have entered information into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under part 1 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - violation of traffic safety rules by a driver in a state of intoxication resulting in moderate bodily harm.
An investigative and operational group was working at the accident scene.
The police urged all road users to adhere to safety rules and refrain from driving while intoxicated.
