A convoy of 95 vehicles crashed on the "Astana — Shchuchinsk" highway in Kazakhstan. The mass accident was caused by severe blizzard conditions, as reported by the local publication Tengrinews.kz.

Road services noted that a section of the "Astana — Petropavlovsk" highway was closed at 7:20 AM on January 3 due to deteriorating weather conditions. By 12:30 PM, police and municipal workers with special equipment were escorting traffic towards Shchuchinsk.

Preliminary reports indicate that drivers were not adhering to speed limits and safe distances at the 153rd kilometer of the highway near the village of Zhanatalap, which led to the mass collision.

At least two individuals were injured as a result of the mass accident in the Akmolinsk region. Nearby heating points have been set up to evacuate drivers, according to "24KZ."

The highway is closed to traffic, and meteorologists had forecast snow, blizzards, and temperatures dropping to minus 10 degrees Celsius in Kazakhstan as early as January 2.
