The renowned Zenit player "Kelt" was posthumously honored as an honorary citizen of Zhytomyr.

In Zhytomyr, the title of "Honorary Citizen of the City of Zhytomyr" was posthumously awarded to the legendary Ukrainian anti-aircraft gunner, Sergeant of the 95th Brigade Andriy Liniychuk, with the call sign "Celt". Liniychuk became a full cavalier of the Order of "For Courage" and the most effective anti-aircraft gunner of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, having shot down a helicopter and numerous reconnaissance drones of the Russian occupiers using portable anti-aircraft missile systems (MANPADS).

The decision to bestow Liniychuk with this honorary title was supported by the deputies of the Zhytomyr City Council during a session, reports "Ukrinform". The resolution was passed with 30 votes in favor.

"Andriy was 100% professional in everything. He participated in a scientific club, was an excellent student, and a fan of our football club 'Polissya'. When Andriy graduated with his bachelor's degree, he was offered to pursue a master's program, but he consciously declined, stating that he needed to go and defend the Motherland,” said city council member Ivan Martynchuk to the publication.

Andriy "Celt" Liniychuk was born in the village of Kyriivka in the Lyubar community of Zhytomyr region. In 2020, he signed a contract with the 95th Brigade. He encountered the beginning of the war as a member of the crew of the self-propelled air defense system "Strela" near Horlivka. Later, he became a MANPADS operator and was the first Ukrainian soldier to hit a Russian target using the portable anti-aircraft missile system Martlet (Starstreak). During the war, he was wounded twice but continued to return to duty.

On his combat record, "Celt" has 16 "Orlans," 1 Zala, and a combat helicopter Ka-52. He was a full cavalier of the Order of "For Courage." He was killed on April 28, 2023, in eastern Ukraine while performing a combat mission.

We remind you that on the front line, 25-year-old defender from Zheltye Vody Maxim Moroz lost his life. The hero sacrificed his life for Ukraine on December 15 near the settlement of Shevchenko in the Volnovakha district of Donetsk region.

Meanwhile, a scandal erupted in Volyn over the refusal to allow a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to have a proper funeral. Clergymen of the UOC MP did not permit the body of the soldier Vasyl Solodukha, who died for all of us at the front, to be brought into the church. The funeral service was held at the gates. This incident occurred in the village of Smolyary in the Kovel region of Volyn on December 16.
