The State Hydrometeorological Center of Ukraine reports that it will be cloudy with clearings. At night, there will be light rain and wet snow in the western and northern regions, with a light rain in the far west during the day, while the rest of the country will remain dry. The wind will predominantly be from the south at 7-12 m/s, with gusts of 15-20 m/s in the Carpathians. Nighttime temperatures will range from 4°C above freezing to -1°C, with 3-8°C in the southern and eastern regions as well as in Transcarpathia; during the day, temperatures will be between 7-12°C, reaching up to 15°C in southern Odesa and Crimea, while the north and northeast will see temperatures of 2-7°C.
As for the weather forecast in Kyiv and the surrounding area, it will be cloudy with clearings on that day. At night, there will be light rain and wet snow in some areas, with no precipitation expected during the day. The wind will predominantly be from the south at 7-12 m/s. Nighttime temperatures will range from 4°C above freezing to -1°C, while daytime temperatures will be between 2-7°C; in Kyiv, expect nighttime temperatures of 0-2°C and daytime temperatures of 3-5°C.
Moreover, meteorologists warn that on January 8-9, due to the thaw and precipitation in the form of rain and wet snow, there is a significant avalanche danger at level 3 in the highlands of Ivano-Frankivsk and the eastern part of Transcarpathia.
According to forecaster Igor Kibalchich, on Thursday, January 9, light precipitation in the form of wet snow, fog, and rain is expected in the western regions, with the rest of the country remaining mostly dry. In the western regions, there may be wet snow accumulation and ice on the roads. The wind will be from the south at 5-10 m/s. Nighttime temperatures will range from -2°C to +3°C, while daytime temperatures will be +4°C to +9°C, and +8°C to +13°C in the central, southern, and western regions.
Earlier, "Telegraph" reported that the rainy season began in Kyiv in mid-January.
