In Ukraine, choosing an operator for delivering driver's licenses and plates is now allowed: here's how it used to be and how it has changed.

The Ukrainian government has allowed the selection of a postal operator for delivering driver’s licenses. Additionally, the government has improved the procedures for deregistering vehicles.

This information is reported by writes "Judicial and Legal Gazette." It is noted that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine made amendments to the CMU resolution dated January 22, 1993, No. 340, and the CMU resolution dated September 7, 1998, No. 1388.

Now, driver’s licenses, vehicle registration certificates, and license plates can be obtained through any postal service operator that is convenient for the client. Previously, these could only be received through the state operator "Ukrposhta." However, it will retain its monopoly for another six months until the new rules come into effect.

Moreover, the government has authorized a simplified procedure for deregistering vehicles owned by individuals who are temporarily not using their transport in Ukraine. It is noted that this will primarily allow for shorter-term auto insurance contracts — ranging from 15 days to five months. Overall, this will ease the processes for individuals who use their vehicles seasonally or are not using them temporarily.

Recall that earlier "Telegraph" reported on how to retrieve your driver’s license if it was taken away due to drunk driving. In some cases, it will be necessary to retake driving school classes.

Additionally, it should be noted that the new vehicle registration rules in Germany for refugees from Ukraine came into effect as of October 1 2024. Individuals residing in the country for more than one year must obtain German plates and pay the customs duty.
