It's not just the Ukrainian "Wolves" that the enemy should avoid. The emblem of the 68th Separate Mountain Brigade named after Oleksa Dovbush features not a bear, but a predator renowned for its endurance, strength, and bravery.
On a green background, reminiscent of the century-old Ukrainian forests, a proud and fearless wolverine is embroidered in gold, symbolizing courage and uncompromising spirit. In its claws is a silver hunting knife, representing the eradication of evil. The brigade's motto is inscribed above, which translates from Ukrainian as "Your souls for our grievances."
The brigade's honorary name pays tribute to Oleksa Dovbush, the legendary leader of the Carpathian rebels of the 18th century, who became a symbol of freedom and the fight for justice.
The 68th Separate Mountain Brigade was established on March 6, 2022, by thousands of volunteers. By March 23, the brigade successfully repelled the enemy near Vuhledar. In 2023, the brigade's heroes pushed back the enemy and liberated the village of Blahodatne in the Donetsk region.
In the summer of 2023, thanks to successful assault operations, the soldiers liberated the villages of Nadiya and Novoheorivka in the Luhansk region, regaining control over parts of Ukrainian territory in the Kupiansk-Lyman direction. Today, the fighters of the 68th Brigade continue their struggle on the front lines, heroically holding back the advance of the occupiers in the Pokrovsk direction.
Previously, "Telegraph" reported on the brigade's insignia, which will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2025. On the insignia of the 92nd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the Cossack hetman Ivan Syroko, there are two flintlock rifles.
