Employees of the State Bureau of Investigations and the Security Service of Ukraine have detained the commander of one of the companies of the 155th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Anna Kyivska on charges of desertion.
This was reported by the press service of the SBI. According to the investigation, the company commander, a senior lieutenant, failed to execute an order at the end of last year to transfer his company to the operational control of another unit.
Instead, he ordered his soldiers to flee unarmed and also unlawfully left his place of duty.
The offender was detained in the Rivne region and subsequently taken to Kyiv, where he was informed of the suspicion under part 4 of Article 402 and part 5 of Article 407 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
If the court finds the detainee guilty, he could face imprisonment for up to 10 years. Currently, he has been placed in custody with the possibility of posting bail. The amount of the bail has not been disclosed.
Recall that earlier "Telegraph" reported that Zelensky stated a significant decrease in the number of cases of desertion. Many cases of desertion last year occurred because the military were fatigued from the prolonged war.
