The most advanced RCH 155 self-propelled howitzer has already been handed over to Ukraine, but there is a catch. The transfer ceremony took place at the KNDS factory in Kassel, where this modern weapon system is manufactured.
According to the publication Stuttgarter-zeitung, the self-propelled howitzer was symbolically received by Ukraine's ambassador, Alexey Makeev. This artillery piece is the first of 54 howitzers. However, it will not be heading to Ukraine just yet. The first six guns from this shipment will be used to train Ukrainian soldiers in Germany.
It features a fully automated reloading system that can be operated manually if necessary. Deployment of the system to position takes only 30 seconds. This howitzer combines high mobility with armored protection. It can reach speeds of over 100 km/h and has a range exceeding 700 km.
Previously, "Telegraph" reported on the Czech self-propelled howitzer DITA, which has a unique firing mode. It allows for firing in three different trajectories, hitting the target simultaneously.
