"They're brave, but...": Trump shared significant thoughts on Ukraine in a recent interview (key takeaways).

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, gave his first television interview as the head of state, during which he spoke about Ukraine among other topics. According to him, the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky is "not an angel," and he should not have allowed the war to happen.

"Telegraph" gathered the main points from Trump's interview with Fox News. The White House leader once again emphasized that the war in Ukraine must be ended immediately; Ukraine has been devastated by the hostilities.

Trump added that Zelensky wants to resolve this issue now, saying "he has had enough." However, in the opinion of the U.S. leader, the President of Ukraine could and should have prevented the war from starting. Although Zelensky recently stated that he is ready to reach an agreement, Trump noted that he should have said this much earlier.

"Zelensky is not an angel and should never have allowed this war to start. He is fighting against a much larger army... A much larger one... And when he spoke so bravely and all that... They are brave, but we have given them billions of dollars. The U.S. has provided them with $200 billion more than Europe, and Biden has never told the Europeans to pay more," Trump stated.

He also reiterated his point that if he had been president in 2022, Russia's war against Ukraine would not have begun. He added that Ukraine had been the target of Russian President Vladimir Putin all this time, but he did not attack for four years.

"Zelensky wanted to fight against a massive army. Much larger, much more powerful. He shouldn't have done that. Because we could have reached an agreement. And that agreement would have cost nothing. But he decided to go to war. Russia has a 300,000-strong army, while Zelensky had virtually none... You don't fight in such a situation," the President of the United States said.

Trump stated that if Russia does not agree to end the war quickly, the U.S. will impose the strongest sanctions and tariffs against it. However, this is an undesirable scenario for the U.S. leader.

"But I wouldn't want to do that. I love the Russians, they are great people," Trump declared.

The U.S. President also expressed his belief that he will be able to negotiate with Chinese leader Xi Jinping for "fairer trade between the U.S. and China." Additionally, Trump complimented North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

"I plan to reach out to Kim Jong-un again. We had a good relationship. He's a very smart guy," Trump said.

As reported by "Telegraph," Trump hopes that China will help him end the war between Russia and Ukraine. In response to a journalist's question about whether the war could end by 2026, the U.S. leader replied that Ukraine is ready for a ceasefire – now it is necessary to ask Russia about that.
