Is winter losing its grip? Should Ukrainians expect warmer temperatures next week?

In February, cold air masses from the north enveloped the territory of Ukraine, leading to a significant drop in temperature. Nighttime temperatures fell to -10...-16°C, while daytime temperatures dropped to -2...-8°C. In some northern, eastern regions and the Carpathians, frosts reached -20...-22°C. The average daily temperature was 4 to 7°C below the climatic norm.

As meteorologist Igor Kibalchich mentioned in a comment to "Telegraf," Ukrainians can expect a noticeable warming next week following a period of severe frosts. Starting from February 24, there will be a gradual easing of the cold across the entire country. Nighttime temperatures will fluctuate between -7…-15°C, while daytime temperatures will rise to -2…+4°C.

Particularly significant changes are anticipated at the end of the month. According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, on February 27 and 28, there will be an intense rise in temperature. Warming will begin in the western and southern regions, where nighttime temperatures will range from -3…-8°C, and daytime temperatures will reach 0…+5°C. In the southern and western regions, temperatures will be between +6…+12°C.

Despite the overall warming, some regions may experience precipitation in the form of snow and wet snow, especially in the eastern areas. The west and south will enjoy dry and sunny weather, leading to a gradual melting of the snow cover.

The last week of February will mark the beginning of a transition to milder spring temperatures. Meteorologists advise residents to prepare for changes in weather conditions and to be cautious due to the potential formation of ice on the roads.

Earlier, "Telegraf" reported that the weekend will delight Kyiv residents with sunny weather, although they won't be able to warm up. What will the temperature be?
