Zelensky after Trump's victory: We anticipate the realization of the principle of "peace through strength."
Президент Украины Владимир Зеленский и в то время кандидат в президенты Дональд Трамп во время встречи в Нью-Йорке, 29 сентября 2024 года

The head of state shared this during his evening video address on November 6.

Zelensky emphasized that the elections demonstrated "clear leadership from Trump." He recalled the words of the American president during his first term about "peace through strength."

"And if this becomes the principle of the 47th president of the United States, America and the entire world will undoubtedly benefit from it," Zelensky added.

The Ukrainian president also pointed out that "it is no coincidence" that the 40th president of the United States, Ronald Reagan, is often remembered, explaining that "people seek confidence, freedom, and a normal life."

Zelensky mentioned that he had a phone conversation with Trump in July and a personal meeting in September.

"And those were good conversations. There is interaction at the team level," the Ukrainian leader stated.

Specifically, according to the president, he discussed the Victory Plan with Trump.

Let us remind you that Vladimir Zelensky congratulated Donald Trump on his victory on the morning of November 6.

U.S. Presidential Elections

As of November 6, Donald Trump has secured 292 electoral votes—more than the amount needed for victory. He has already declared himself the 47th president of the United States.

World leaders also congratulated Trump on his victory. For instance, French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his willingness to "work together, as we have for the past four years." Among the leaders who welcomed Trump are the Prime Ministers of the United Kingdom, Israel, Hungary, and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

Alongside the presidential voting in the U.S., elections for Congress—the country's legislative body—are ongoing. Republicans managed to gain a majority in the Senate, which is the upper chamber of Congress, and also have a chance to maintain control over the lower chamber—the House of Representatives.
