U.S. President Donald Trump announced that his administration is negotiating with Ukraine, Russia, and other parties. Previously, the leader of the states claimed that his administration had already conducted "very serious discussions" with the Russian side regarding the war in Ukraine.
This statement was made by Trump in comments to reporters late on February 2. The publication RFE/RL reported this.
"We are dealing with Ukraine and Russia. We have planned meetings and talks with various parties, particularly Ukraine and Russia. I think the discussions are going well," he stated.
Just a few hours earlier, Trump's special representative for Ukraine and Russia, Kurt Volker, warned that both sides would need to make concessions if they hope to reach an agreement on resolving the war.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky "has already indicated that he will soften his stance on the territories," Volker said. "And Russian President Vladimir Putin will also have to soften his positions."
"In time, we will hold discussions with everyone, likely in the near future," Volker added. "And this is good for both sides," he concluded.
Recall that Volodymyr Zelensky recently gave an interview to the Associated Press, where he addressed important questions. In particular, "Telegraph" reported that the head of state spoke about the war in Ukraine, negotiations between Russia and the U.S., Emmanuel Macron's idea about troops, security guarantees, and much more.
