U.S. President Donald Trump genuinely wants to end the war in Ukraine, but he himself is unsure of all the details on how to achieve this. Economic pressure could expedite this process.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made this statement in an interview with the Italian publication Il Foglio. In it, he discussed whether security guarantees for Ukraine are possible without U.S. involvement.
"The U.S. President tells Russia it needs to end, or it will get worse. The war won't end quickly, but Trump has the ability to speed up the process through sanctions, economic pressure, and U.S. influence," — Zelensky stated.
Key statements from the president:
The president emphasized that the war brings nothing good and should be concluded. Russia's invasion of Ukraine has taken many lives.
"War only takes time, robs positive emotions. And you realize how much has been lost on this path. It has been taken away. Undoubtedly, evil must be defeated; otherwise, there will be another war: a second, third, fifth world war, etc. Therefore, we must defeat evil," — Zelensky stressed.
Earlier, "Telegraph" reported that Trump is ready to provide security guarantees to Ukraine, but on his own terms.
