Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Ryabkov discussed this in an interview with the propaganda news agency "RIA Novosti".
This meeting will take place at the level of department heads, followed by possible negotiations between deputy ministers.
Ryabkov noted that the parties will discuss "the removal of irritants in bilateral relations." According to him, the location of the meeting is still being agreed upon, but it is known that it will be in a third country.
The U.S. State Department has not yet confirmed Ryabkov's statements. However, after the meeting with the Russians in Saudi Arabia on February 18, the Americans promised to continue cooperation.
On February 18, a meeting took place in the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh, between American and Russian delegations. Bloomberg reported that the Saudi prince suggested inviting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to these negotiations, but representatives from the U.S. and Russia insisted on a bilateral meeting.
After the negotiations, Russian negotiators stated that they went "well" and that the teams from Russia and the U.S. would "in due time" start contacts regarding Ukraine. Among other things, the U.S. and Russia agreed to restore the staff of their embassies in Washington and Moscow, respectively.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky criticized the negotiations in Saudi Arabia, noting that they had "the same mood" as the Russian ultimatum at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. He also postponed his visit to Saudi Arabia until March.
