Poland claims that Zelensky is attempting to involve them in the conflict with Russia.
Вице-премьер-министр Польши Кшиштоф Гавковский

Gavkovsky stated this during a broadcast on Radio Zet.

When asked whether the Ukrainian government is behaving fairly towards Poland, he replied: “No”. He criticized Zelensky for his statements, which he deemed “undignified for a politician who owes much to Poland.”

The gifted equipment, the citizens have cared, Poland is a great friend of Ukraine, a transport hub. I thought that in such situations one should express gratitude to someone rather than insult them,” Gavkovsky remarked.

He elaborated that this particularly refers to the downing of missiles over Ukrainian territory. This has been repeatedly stated by the Ukrainian president.

“Zelensky wants Poland to shoot down missiles over Ukraine, meaning he wants Poland to enter the war, that is, he wants Poland to fight against Russia. Zelensky, in these statements, aims to drag Poland into the war with Russia,” the Polish Deputy Prime Minister believes, expressing his disagreement with this notion.

According to him, he expects Ukraine, and particularly Zelensky, to appreciate “a friend who extended a hand in difficult times, and not criticize them when it turns out we want even more.”

Downing Missiles Over Ukraine

Earlier, Radoslaw Sikorski stated that Poland and other countries bordering Ukraine are obliged to intercept Russian drones and missiles before they enter their airspace.

Moreover, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky mentioned that Ukraine's partners could shoot down Russian drones and missiles, similar to the assistance provided in the Middle East, although they are not yet ready for such a decision.

This is not the first time the head of the Ukrainian state has called on NATO allies to defend Ukraine, akin to Israel. In April, he even criticized that “Israel was not left alone” when it was attacked by Iran, adding that the Alliance must make a choice, “whether life is truly valued equally everywhere.”

However, Pentagon officials explained that Israel and Ukraine represent “very different battlefields” — and intercepting Russian missiles from Polish or Romanian territory would draw the U.S. into the Russian-Ukrainian war.
