In the Chernihiv region, an ambulance with a pregnant woman was involved in an accident and struck a pedestrian.

On Saturday, November 2, in the city of Nizhyn, Chernihiv region, an ambulance transporting a pregnant woman was involved in a traffic accident. After colliding with another vehicle, the ambulance veered off the road, where it struck a pedestrian and crashed into a tree.

This was reported by the Chernihiv regional police.

The incident occurred around 11:30 at the intersection of Shevchenko and Defenders of Ukraine streets.

Preliminary information indicates that the driver of the BMW was making a left turn at a green traffic light, while at the same time the ambulance was proceeding through the intersection on a red light with its emergency lights and sirens activated.

 

A collision occurred at the intersection, after which the ambulance moved onto the left shoulder of the road.

“From the scene of the accident, a pedestrian woman with bodily injuries was taken to the hospital, as well as the paramedic and the ambulance driver. The pregnant woman who was in the ambulance and the BMW driver did not sustain any injuries,” the police reported.

Currently, an investigative operational group is working at the scene. The issue of entering information about the incident into the Unified Register of Pretrial Investigations under part 2 of article 286 (violation of traffic safety rules resulting in serious bodily harm) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is being considered.
