Demonstrations have been banned in Amsterdam following an attack on Israeli football fans.

Authorities have also allowed the police to stop pedestrians and check their documents.

The mayor of the city, Femke Halsema, stated that Maccabi fans were "attacked, abused, and pelted with fireworks." Consequently, the police intervened to protect the individuals and escort them to hotels. However, the assailants managed to escape from the police.

The Israeli embassy in the Netherlands announced that crowds were chanting anti-Israel slogans and posting videos of violence on social media.

As reported by Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, he was "horrified by the antisemitic attacks on Israeli citizens." The politician assured that the perpetrators would be identified and held accountable.

The Israeli authorities stated that they are sending planes to the Netherlands to bring the fans home.

Attack on Israeli Football Fans

In the Netherlands, clashes occurred between Israeli fans and pro-Palestinian activists after a match between the Israeli club Maccabi and the Dutch Ajax. This incident has been referred to as a "pogrom" in Israel.

Videos shared online show a group of people attacking individual men and hitting them. Some shout, "This is for the children" and "Freedom for Palestine."

The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, citing Dutch authorities, reported that 10 of their citizens were injured in the attack.
