This is reported by Reuters.

It is noted that Brian Lanza, who made the statement, does not work for Trump and does not speak on his behalf. A representative of Trump's team mentioned that they are currently in the process of assembling members for the future administration and developing policies for the president's second term.

What led to this?

Former advisor to Donald Trump, Republican Brian Lanza, stated in an interview with BBC that the new White House administration will reach out to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to present his version of a "realistic vision of the world."

"And if President Zelensky sits down at the negotiating table and says that we can achieve peace only if we have Crimea, he will show us that he is not taking this seriously. Crimea is no longer there," Lanza said.

He also stated that if Ukraine's priority is to reclaim Crimea and "force American soldiers to fight to get it back," then they are "on their own."

At the same time, Volodymyr Zelensky has repeatedly emphasized that a just peace will only come when all Russian troops leave the sovereign territory of Ukraine, including Crimea.
