Премьер-министр Польши Дональд Туск

Tusk's words are reported by PolskieRadio.

In response to a question about the recently disclosed potential peace plan from Donald Trump, the head of the Polish government remarked that it is likely still in the preparatory stages. Tusk also noted that Washington will make decisions that will “involve less U.S. intervention in Ukrainian affairs”.

At the same time, the Polish politician emphasized that decisions regarding the war in Ukraine “cannot be made solely based on the opinions of Ukrainians, but also our own”.

It is worth recalling that earlier, the Wall Street Journal reported that Donald Trump has not yet chosen a specific plan for proposing an end to the war in Ukraine. However, some advisors suggest pressuring Ukraine not to join NATO for the next 20 years.

Trump and the War in Ukraine

During the election campaign, Donald Trump repeatedly claimed that he would “end the war” if re-elected, without revealing what exactly he would do. He once stated that he could stop the war in 24 hours, particularly due to his good relations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

Reuters reported that Trump’s advisors presented a plan where, if re-elected, he would provide Ukraine with additional military aid only if Kyiv agrees to negotiate with Moscow. Additionally, the presidential candidate stated that he would halt financial assistance to Ukraine.

During a debate with Joe Biden on June 28, he labeled Putin's demands for the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from occupied regions and Ukraine's refusal to join NATO as “unacceptable.” James D. Vance, whom Trump chose as his vice-presidential candidate, voiced an opposing opinion, suggesting a freeze on hostilities along the current front line and Ukraine's withdrawal from NATO.

After Trump’s election, the Wall Street Journal reported on another plan proposed by Trump’s advisors. It stipulates that Kyiv promises not to join NATO for at least 20 years, in exchange for which the U.S. will continue to send arms to Ukraine. Russia and Ukraine are supposedly expected to agree on a demilitarized zone of over 1200 km.

The newspaper noted that it is up to Trump himself to decide which of the proposed peace settlement strategies to pursue. Which of these strategies he will adhere to and whether he will act at all remains unclear.
