Switzerland has banned the sale of munitions from a Polish company due to their transfer to Ukraine.

This is reported by Associated Press.

The country's State Secretariat for Economic Affairs announced that exports to the Polish company will be prohibited, as "the risk of redirection to Ukraine is assessed as too high."

The Secretariat initiated an investigation after the American news outlet Defense One published a report last November stating that a Ukrainian company received 645,000 armor-piercing rounds for rifles. These were manufactured by SwissP Defense and delivered by the Polish importer UMO.

"The investigation revealed that the Swiss manufacturer and the Polish company signed a dealer agreement, which stipulates that the Polish company has the right to resell the ammunition only within Poland," the Secretariat's response stated.

The investigation concluded that the Polish company "failed to fulfill its contractual obligations to the Swiss manufacturer, and the ammunition ended up in Ukraine."

SwissP Defense stated in an email that it "always complies with regulations" in Switzerland and declined to disclose information about its relationships with clients.

Switzerland has long maintained neutrality in wars, and Swiss legislation prohibits the export of military equipment owned or produced in Switzerland to countries in conflict.

However, the Swiss government supported the European Union's economic sanctions against Russia due to its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
