The city mayor of the capital, Vitaliy Klitschko, announced this, referring to the decision of the Capital Defense Council.
According to Klitschko, the main Christmas tree of the country will be set up in Sofia Square solely with the funds from sponsors. The city's budget will not allocate any money for this. The company "GLOBAL-DECOR" will handle all the work. The installation of the tree will begin on December 2.
“A photo zone with QR codes for charitable foundations and several stalls for selling souvenir products will be set up near the tree. There will be no mass events, fairs, or other entertainment in Sofia Square,” Klitschko noted.
The Christmas tree for 2023–2024 was artificial and stood 12 meters tall. Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko pointed out that the tree “is not as large as in peacetime, but it is more uplifting than ever.” It was installed and decorated with the help of sponsors.
The tree was adorned in the theme of “Brave Hearts” in honor of Ukrainian defenders. In particular, the tree was decorated with ornaments in the shape of blue and yellow hearts. At the top, the Coat of Arms of Ukraine was placed.
