Yatsenyuk: Putin may unilaterally declare a ceasefire.

This was stated by former Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk in a comment to Novini.LIVE journalist Halyna Ostapovets on Friday, February 21.

What a Unilateral Ceasefire Would Mean

According to Yatsenyuk, if Putin declares a unilateral ceasefire, Ukraine will receive no security guarantees and will be left without aid packages. Moreover, this would provide grounds to hold elections that, under the Constitution, cannot be conducted during a state of martial law.

"I do not rule out that Putin may declare a unilateral ceasefire. They will showcase what a 'good' Putin he is. They will say that Russia has announced a ceasefire, while Ukraine is not doing the same," noted Yatsenyuk.

The former Prime Minister emphasized that it is essential to end the war in Ukraine. However, as Yatsenyuk believes, this must be done with security guarantees.

"I want the war to end as soon as possible. But more than anything, I want this end to be not just for one, two, or three days, but for many decades, where Ukraine receives security guarantees, financial aid from the EU and the USA, and where the Ukrainian army becomes the foundation of security," the politician stressed.

We remind you that American General David Petraeus stated that the United States must continue to support Ukraine. He expressed admiration for what our defense forces have accomplished.

Ukraine will soon receive a new aid package from Sweden. This was discussed between President Volodymyr Zelensky and Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.
