It's been exactly 1,000 days since the full-scale war with Russia began. Here’s what officials are saying about this milestone.

The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky released a video highlighting certain events that occurred during the full-scale war, labeling it as “1000 days together. 1000 days of Ukraine.”

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi referred to these 1000 days as a “super challenging fierce battle for our existence,” “for the future of Ukraine and each of us.”

According to him, these are also “1000 days of victories and losses” and “1000 days of destroying the enemy.”

“Every dark night, even if there are a thousand, always ends with dawn. And someday, this will be the dawn of our Victory,” he wrote.

The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense Kyrill Budanov noted that in reality, “the next Russian-Ukrainian war has been ongoing for over ten years,” and in the last thousand days, Ukraine “has been defending itself in one of the largest wars of the 21st century” against the “former ‘second army in the world.’”

Budanov stated that Russian generals “seriously planned to ‘capture Kyiv in three days’ and parade down Khreshchatyk.” Now, it remains unclear how many more days this war will last, as the Russians have not given up on the destruction of Ukraine and Ukrainians.

“Therefore, we must continue to be strong and persistent in achieving our goal – to defeat the occupiers, liberate Ukrainian land, and build the state of our dreams – a powerful, independent, and just Ukraine,” the intelligence chief believes.

The Minister of Internal Affairs Igor Klymenko stated that despite the war, “Ukraine is becoming stronger,” and therefore, the “considerable journey” of the past 1000 days must continue towards “a peaceful and safe country.”

In the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, they wrote that more important than the number of days of war that have passed is the number of days until victory.

This, they say, is the key lesson of these 1000 days – “regardless of what awaits us ahead, we will withstand, overcome the enemy, and finally win.”
