"The sky over Ukraine must be closed": The Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive new F-16 fighter jets.

Ukraine will soon receive new F-16 aircraft. The Netherlands may transfer aviation to the Armed Forces of Ukraine within this year.

This was reported by President Volodymyr Zelensky on his X account. According to him, he had a productive dialogue with the country's Prime Minister, Dick Schoof.

"An important conversation about a fair end to the war and strengthening unity in Europe. The Netherlands shares our position: nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine, nothing about Europe without Europe," he wrote.

He stated that the countries are united in their understanding that Ukraine needs to be strengthened, as this will ensure security for Europe. He also added that the supply of F-16 aircraft will continue in 2025.

"The sky over Ukraine must be closed and safe," he added.

As is known, the Netherlands has already transferred two batches of F-16 fighters to Ukraine: 18 were delivered in August 2024 and another 6 in February 2025. Besides these, Ukraine has only received this type of aircraft from Denmark, although Belgium, Norway, and Greece also have plans to transfer their F-16s for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As previously reported, the European Union is preparing a new large-scale military aid package for Ukraine, which may be allocated in the coming days. It will include 1.5 million artillery shells, air defense systems, and other equipment.
