A man attacked a military officer with pepper spray and a traumatic weapon in Odessa. Here’s how the situation unfolded.

In Odesa, police have apprehended a man who inflicted bodily harm on a serviceman from the Territorial Recruitment Center (TRC).

This was reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police of Ukraine in the Odesa region. The incident occurred on Saturday, February 22, on Italian Boulevard, located near Kulikovo Field. According to the police, a 28-year-old resident of the Berezivskyi district was stopped for a document check.

Military personnel were present with the police—this was stated by the Odesa Regional TRC and SP.

According to the TRC and police, the man refused to show military registration documents, then sprayed tear gas from a canister and opened fire with a traumatic pistol towards the serviceman.

As a result, the victim was taken to the hospital, and the man was detained. Investigators from the Security Service of Ukraine are currently working with him.

A case has been opened against the detainee under Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (obstruction of the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in special circumstances).

As reported earlier by "Telegraph," a resident of the Khmelnytskyi region received three summonses but refused mobilization. The court found the man guilty and sentenced him to 3 years of imprisonment.
