This is reported by CNN, citing a senior aide to Harris.
According to the candidate's assistant, she congratulated her opponent on the victory and "discussed the importance" of a peaceful transfer of power and the necessity to "be a president for all Americans."
Updated at 22:28. Representatives of Donald Trump confirmed his conversation with Harris, reports CBS News.
They stated that Trump acknowledged the "strength, professionalism, and determination" of his opponent throughout the election campaign. They also mentioned that both leaders agreed on the "importance of uniting the country."
Harris is expected to give a speech at 16:00 Washington time, which will be 23:00 in Kyiv, at her alma mater — Howard University. This will be her first public appearance since the election.
Meanwhile, Trump has managed to secure victory in another "swing" state — Michigan, adding 15 electoral votes to his tally. The necessary 270 votes were achieved by the Republican after winning in Wisconsin.
Currently, Trump holds 292 electoral votes. Counting is still ongoing in Nevada, Arizona, Alaska, and Maine. Preliminary results indicate the politician is winning in the first three states, while Harris may claim Maine.
With victories in Michigan and Pennsylvania, Trump has broken the "blue wall" — states that were once Democratic strongholds but all supported Trump in 2016 and then voted for Democrat Joe Biden in 2020.
Trump declared his victory to supporters early in the morning on November 6. He has already been congratulated by several world leaders, including the presidents of France and Ukraine, as well as the prime ministers of the United Kingdom, Israel, Hungary, and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
Media reports that Russian leader Vladimir Putin secretly congratulated Donald Trump. At the same time, the Russian Foreign Ministry publicly stated that they would work with the new American administration, "firmly defending national interests."
Forecasts suggest that Republicans will also succeed in the Senate elections — the upper chamber of Congress, and they have a chance to maintain control of the lower chamber — the House of Representatives.
