A thick cloud of dust hangs over Kyiv and nearby regions: find out where the air quality is currently the poorest (map included).

In the capital of Ukraine, a temporary deterioration in air quality has been recorded. There has been an increase in the concentration of suspended particles.

According to data from the official channel of the Kyiv City State Administration, the primary cause of this situation is the accumulation of dust in the atmosphere.

Experts explain that low-wind weather conditions and increased atmospheric pressure hinder the natural dispersion of harmful pollutants. Dust particles remain in the air longer than usual, leading to a decline in the overall environmental situation in the city.

Such air quality deterioration events occur periodically in megacities and are mostly temporary. Typically, after a change in weather conditions, including increased wind or precipitation, air quality normalizes.

To protect their health during this period, residents of Kyiv are advised to follow a series of measures. First and foremost, it is recommended to keep windows closed to minimize the entry of polluted air into homes. Additionally, time spent outdoors should be limited, particularly for individuals with chronic respiratory conditions, children, and the elderly.

Air purifier owners are advised to operate their devices at maximum capacity for more effective air filtration indoors.

The city authorities urge citizens to monitor current air quality indicators through specialized resources. In particular, one can use the online monitoring system via the link https://asm.kyivcity.gov.ua/ or download the "Kyiv Digital" app on their smartphone https://kyiv.digital/start.

It should be noted that a similar situation occurred on February 25 in many cities and regions of Ukraine and its central part. Specifically, according to Saveecobot, the worst conditions are in Zhytomyr and the surrounding area, where the index reaches 254 – a very harmful level.

We remind you that recently in Kyiv, there was also a sharp deterioration in air quality. In some areas, it was difficult to breathe.
