This is reported by Bloomberg, citing the Hungarian Prime Minister during a public radio broadcast.
Orban reminded listeners of his "peacekeeping" mission to Kyiv, Moscow, and Beijing last summer, stating that recent events have confirmed the conclusions drawn from his trips.
According to him, the U.S. is allegedly planning to "exit" the war, which he views as a losing endeavor. Therefore, if the newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump decides not to support Ukraine, Europe will not be able to independently finance such support.
Earlier, officials in Hungary stated that Trump's victory should supposedly help "establish peace in Ukraine" after nearly a thousand days of conflict.
In July, Orban sent a letter to EU leaders outlining his own "peace plan" for resolving Russia's war against Ukraine.
According to it, if Europe desires peace and wants to have a decisive voice in resolving the conflict, it "must now develop and implement a change in direction."
Meanwhile, Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed that he will "end the war" if re-elected, without disclosing what exactly he plans to do.
Reuters reported that Trump's advisors presented a plan stating that if he is re-elected, he would provide additional military aid to Ukraine only if Kyiv agrees to negotiate with Moscow. Furthermore, the presidential candidate indicated that he would halt financial assistance to Ukraine.
