This was reported by the Office of the Attorney General (OGP) and the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU).
The detained individual had previously been convicted multiple times for robbery, theft, and escape from prison. This time, he was offered the chance to earn money by completing certain tasks.
His initial task was to set fire to a cabinet belonging to "Ukrzaliznytsia" in the Kyiv region, which he accomplished and sent a video to his client. Following this, he was supposed to plant an explosive device in a rented apartment, for which he was promised $2,000.
To carry out this task, an apartment was rented in Kyiv's Pechersk district for several days. The man was given instructions on how to create and install homemade explosives at the entrance of the apartment.
The "tripwire" with an F-1 grenade was designed to detonate when the police arrived at the apartment. Additionally, cameras were set up in the room to capture the explosion and its aftermath.
Afterward, an unknown woman called the police and reported domestic violence against herself. She stated that the door would be open, allowing law enforcement to enter immediately.
When two police officers arrived in response to the call, they found no one in the apartment, and the opening of the door triggered an explosion. However, the officers managed to escape from the apartment in time.
The detained individual was informed of the suspicion of terrorism (Part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He is currently in custody and faces up to 12 years in prison with property confiscation.
Earlier, "RBK-Ukraine," citing sources in law enforcement agencies, wrote that a wave of sabotage against security forces is being recorded in Ukraine. Journalists were informed about an attempt to bomb police officers who had responded to a domestic violence call in the Pechersk district of Kyiv.
Another incident occurred in the Darnytsia district of the capital, where an attempt was made to blow up law enforcement officials right outside the police station. In the Dniprovskyi district of Kyiv, a soldier was killed by explosives planted in a package.
