Marco Rubio's Political Career

Marco Rubio is 53 years old and is not a newcomer to U.S. politics, unlike newly appointed Vice President JD Vance. He comes from a family of Cuban immigrants but has spent his entire life in the United States. He graduated from college, then attended the University of Florida, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree (specializing in humanities. — Ed.), and later obtained a law degree.

He began his political career in the 1990s, when he was elected to the Florida House of Representatives, later becoming its Speaker. In 2010, he became a U.S. Senator, and by 2012, he was considered a potential vice presidential candidate on Mitt Romney's presidential ticket. That same year, Rubio was named one of Time magazine's 100 most influential people in the world.

In 2016, both Rubio and Trump planned to run for president, leading to competition and disputes between them. Marco Rubio claimed that Trump had "small hands," while Trump referred to his rival as "Little Marco."

Rubio was appointed Secretary of State with unanimous support, becoming the first Latino to hold this position. This means he is the third person in the U.S. executive branch after the President and Vice President. In other countries, this position is comparable to that of a Foreign Minister.

However, the rhetoric has changed over time, and he now believes that negotiations are necessary. In a September 2024 interview with NBC, Rubio emphasized: "I am not on Russia's side, but unfortunately, the reality is that the war in Ukraine will end through negotiations."

In the Senate, he stated that the official U.S. position on the war in Ukraine should be that the war must come to an end.

Additionally, it should be noted that Trump made several radical decisions in the early days of his administration, one of which was to halt foreign aid. However, the U.S. President later rescinded his order to freeze federal aid programs. Marco Rubio, in turn, softened the freeze on foreign assistance.

Little is known about the politician's personal life. He is married and has four children.
