This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on Thursday, January 30.
The ministry noted that the statements made by the Romanian politician call into question Ukraine's territorial integrity and demonstrate a profound disrespect for the Ukrainian people.
"We consider revisionist statements or actions that threaten the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, contradict international norms, the UN Charter, as well as fundamental democratic values, to be categorically unacceptable and condemn them.", the statement reads.
The ministry also added that in light of these statements, Georgeșcu's attempts to position himself as an "independent" politician appear absurd, as his theses align entirely with Russian propaganda.
Ukraine is convinced that achieving a comprehensive, just, and sustainable peace in Ukraine serves the interests of the Romanian people. We look forward to the further development of friendly relations between our countries.
Earlier, Georgeșcu expressed his views on Ukraine, stating about an "inevitable division." He has also repeatedly opposed the export of Ukrainian grain via Romania and called for an end to military assistance to Ukraine.
Furthermore, on January 17, traces of a Russian drone were discovered in Romania near the border with Ukraine.
