The head of the Kyiv City Military Administration (KCMA), Timur Tkachенко, made this statement on Wednesday, January 29, during a roundtable discussion titled "Ensuring the Reliable Operation of Public Transport During Air Alerts in Kyiv," as reported by a correspondent from Novini.LIVE.
According to Tkachенко, it is unnecessary to apply state building codes (GSC) for the construction of shelters at stops, as there are other technical standards (GSTU) for such structures.
"The issue of shelters at stop complexes is significant, as during discussions with representatives of the city administration and the mayor, I was informed that there are no relevant GNB. However, this is not accurate, as GBN is only applicable for construction, while other technical standards (GSTU) exist for such structures," said the head of the KCMA.
Tkachенко emphasized that there are already examples of successful implementation of such structures in other cities.
"Many cities successfully use similar shelters. This issue should be addressed by the appropriate specialists. I will consider this matter on the agenda because if we are talking about people waiting at stop complexes, they should not be glass structures, but at least ones that provide some level of public safety," he concluded.
Previously, the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Timur Tkachенко, stated that being outdoors for a significant number of people is more dangerous than traveling on public transport.
We also reported that Kyiv currently lacks certified shelters that could be installed at public transport stops. City authorities plan to explore options for installing such structures and initiate funding allocation as soon as it becomes feasible.
