Education Reform 2027: Which subjects will be removed from schools?

Novyny.LIVE asked people on the streets of Lviv whether they support the reform of high school education.

Ukrainian Schools Without Physics and Chemistry

All respondents believe that biology, chemistry, and physics should remain mandatory subjects in school.

"I am an advocate for children having a basic level of education across all subjects. In reality, it's challenging for a child to decide what they want to be in the future, as they might think these subjects are unnecessary now, but their views may change later," says a woman.

"I believe physics is essential because children need to understand that it is not magic. And biology is a subject that is important for children aged 14-15. They should know the fundamentals," adds a young woman.

"As a mother of three children, I think these subjects are necessary, but they should be taught in a simpler way. For children inclined toward mathematics, physics, or chemistry, they should study in specialized classes where these subjects are taught in depth," notes another woman.

By the way, the Ministry of Education and Science previously announced that starting from 2027, subjects such as foreign literature, world history, biology, geography, physics, and chemistry will no longer be mandatory in high schools. Ukrainian language and literature, history of Ukraine, English, mathematics, physical education, and "Defense of Ukraine" will remain compulsory.

As a reminder, we previously reported on whether students and teachers in Ukraine would be mobilized.

We also wrote about how to get a deferral from mobilization for teachers.
