A correspondent from Novini.LIVE visited the site of the shelling.
Yesterday, the Russian army struck an administrative building with a ballistic missile "Iskander-M." In a comment to Novini.LIVE, the Kharkiv regional prosecutor's office noted that there are no military facilities nearby.
The strike was carried out in the most crowded area of Izyum: currently, 57 people aged between six and 77 have been reported injured. Among them, 44 are employees of municipal and state institutions, including the state tax service, the Ministry of Justice, the executive service, and the social protection service.
It is also known that two of the deceased were sisters: a 19-year-old woman was four months pregnant, and the 18-year-old had a one-and-a-half-year-old son. The woman's husband is currently on the front lines defending Ukraine.
One of the employees of the administrative building stated that she was at her workstation in the Social Protection Department during the explosion. According to her, civilians come to the institution to receive social services.
"The deceased also came for documents; they didn’t even have time to enter. They died near the building. In my department, there are 13 injured, eight of whom have gone to hospitals," she noted.
It is known that the missile hit a boiler room where a worker was present. By the time rescuers reached him through the rubble, he had already died.
It is worth mentioning that today a 61-year-old victim from yesterday’s attack in Izyum died in the hospital.
Additionally, in the city, apart from the administrative building, three high-rise buildings, over 10 private houses, and seven vehicles were damaged.
