A well-known producer shocked everyone by revealing why Potap won't be returning to Ukraine.

He elaborated on the situation in an interview with nv.ua.

Potap and his music — a thing of the past for Ukrainian pop

Journalist Vitaliy Bardetsky believes that while Potap still has a certain audience, most of his supporters no longer back him. Because the rapper lives abroad, he is too "out of touch" with all the changes.

"He simply doesn’t understand what’s happening here anymore. Of course, he will always have some audience, apparently a small and marginal one. But he definitely won’t return to the level he was at. Pop music is characterized by the fact that as an author, you can very clearly sense what people need, but Potap is already out of context. He tries; I saw him making attempts on TikTok. He always had a clear understanding of what the audience wanted, but now he throws something out there, thinking it will work for sure, and it all misses the mark," the producer expressed.

Another reason is that the Ukrainian music industry has changed significantly due to the full-scale invasion.

"From a musicology perspective, the artists who are currently creating operate with a completely different set of sounds and have a different sound altogether. Therefore, the sound that Potap offered has become absolutely archaic today, especially for younger generations. I believe this new wave of musical artists developing here will bring a completely new sound", the producer added.

Recall that rapper Potap announced a tour with old songs across cities in the USA.  The well-known blogger also stated that Potap plans to return to Ukraine.
