A historian highlighted the significant contribution of the Heroes of Kruty to contemporary Ukraine.

This was stated by historian Andrei Ivanets in a comment to a Novini.LIVE correspondent.

"This memorial site (Askold's grave. — Ed.) is significant for all Ukrainians who fought for Ukraine and who are defending the country today," said the historian.

According to him, thanks to the battle of Kruty and, in particular, the actions of these young men, it was possible to delay the advance of the Russian aggressor in 1918. At that time, our diplomats were able to achieve the first peace in the world war, as well as recognition of the newly formed modern Ukrainian statehood and the revival of the Ukrainian People's Republic.

"Without the actions of the fighters at Kruty, this might not have happened, and today we would not have the Ukraine we have. Therefore, I believe that every Ukrainian should remember the Heroes of Kruty today," Ivanets emphasized.

Let us remind you that today Zelensky visited Askold's Grave in Kyiv and honored the memory of the Heroes of Kruty.

The memory of the fighters at Kruty was also honored in Lviv at the Lychakiv Cemetery.
