Germany may offer Ukraine an additional 3 billion euros – details to follow.

This is reported by sources from Reuters.

Ukraine is set to receive 3 billion euros in aid

According to Reuters, a request for additional funding was approved during a vote in the budget committee of parliament, where it was supported by opposition conservatives from the CDU and the Free Democrats (FDP). At the same time, representatives of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) abstained.

Currently, the committee cannot independently decide on the provision of additional aid without coordination with the Minister of Finance. However, as noted by Reuters, in practice, the ministry usually follows the committee's recommendations. Representatives from the CDU and SPD budget committee stated that there are sufficient funds in the budget for this request.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who also supports the provision of additional military assistance to Ukraine, insists that it can only be funded if the "debt brake" is excluded — a financial mechanism that limits the government's ability to undertake additional borrowing. This has already led to political tension in Germany.

Earlier, in 2024, Germany allocated 8 billion euros in military aid to Ukraine. However, in 2025, this amount is reduced to 4 billion euros, as the German government hopes that Ukraine will be able to cover part of its needs through a 50 billion dollar loan approved by the G7 countries. The final decision on the allocation of additional funds remains with the German Ministry of Finance.

Meanwhile, Olaf Scholz recently made a statement to NATO about the need to increase defense spending and mentioned Ukraine.

In the meantime, the Trump administration explained why the U.S. suspended foreign aid.
