In particular, Finnish President Alexander Stubb dismissed Trump's words, stating that his country "supports the Ukrainian Constitution and the democratically elected President Volodymyr Zelensky."
"The aggressive war was initiated solely by Russia and President Putin. Our task is to discuss with Trump the consequences if Putin gets what he wants," Stubb reminded.
He was supported by Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, who considers Trump's statement "deeply unfair." Støre noted that Zelensky "is an elected president with a significant majority." This position was echoed by other Norwegian politicians.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz called Trump's comments "incorrect and dangerous."

One of Ukraine's largest allies, Czech President Petr Pavel, stated that "to call the president of such a country a dictator requires a considerable degree of cynicism."
"What value would elections have in a country that has been defending itself against aggression from a neighboring nuclear power for three years? How can elections be organized when a fifth of the territory is occupied, and the entire country is under daily shelling?" wrote the Czech leader.
The leader of the opposition Conservative Party in the UK, Kemi Badenoch, wrote that "Zelensky is not a dictator — he is the democratically elected leader of Ukraine who has bravely resisted Putin's unlawful invasion."

For his part, Zelensky commented on Trump's statements regarding the need for elections in Ukraine. According to the head of state, survey results show that 57% of citizens trust him.
