The project organizers shared this information.
The album features a total of 12 reggae tracks that reinterpret the works of Skovoroda. In addition to Zhadan and Karpa, musicians Yuri Gurzhi, Lesik Omodada, and over 35 other artists united by the Kharkiv Literary Museum contributed to the creation of the album.
The album was released in October 2023 and is available on various streaming platforms, including YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Music.
This year, the project has gained new life with a physical release on vinyl, although it is currently available in a limited quantity.
The presentation in Kyiv took place at the bookstore “Sens na Kreshchatyku” and was the final event in a series of activities supporting the vinyl release.
As explained by the organizers, following the wandering philosopher Skovoroda, the vinyl traveled across the country over the past two months, visiting 26 cities in 21 regions, and was featured in 15 branches of “Ukrposhta.”
“We intentionally blended the baroque multi-voicedness of Skovoroda with the rhythms of reggae and dub to demonstrate how naturally the 18th-century poetry resonates today,” said Serhiy Zhadan during the album presentation in Kyiv.
Irena Karpa, recalling the album's creation process, noted that its lightness “was largely achieved thanks to the author's interpretation of the works, translating from ‘baroque surzhyk’ to contemporary Ukrainian.”
The presentation in Kyiv also featured the project “PereKrasheny Lis” and DJ Olimpia (Olimpia Vaitmustash).
