“Does this mean we will leave Ukraine in the middle of winter? Because USAID provides critical funding for restoring their power grid every time Russia attacks it,” the senator said.
He also expressed concern that this would affect assistance to Jordan and funding for the World Food Program or UNICEF.
“I have no clarity, and I think we need clarity,” the politician emphasized.
Previously, Trump decided to suspend all American foreign aid for 90 days. However, the Center for Counteracting Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council explained that this does not apply to military assistance for Ukraine.
Recall that during the election campaign, Trump stated that he would stop financial aid to Ukraine, calling Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky “the best salesman among all politicians who ever lived.”
After his re-election, he suggested that under his presidency, Ukraine would likely not receive the same level of aid as it had from the previous administration.
