This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General, Security Service of Ukraine, and National Police.

According to the investigation, a 36-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman manufactured an improvised explosive device at their home under the direction of Russian special services. Their actions were coordinated by a handler who promised them monetary rewards.

On January 8, the suspects planted explosives near a fuel tank on a railway platform in one of Dnipro's districts, intending to activate it. However, law enforcement neutralized the explosives and apprehended the suspects.

According to the SBU, the attack was planned by two drug addicts from Dnipro who were living in a civil marriage. The couple was seeking money for their "dose" in themed Telegram channels, where they caught the attention of the FSB.

For the sake of concealment, they purchased the necessary components online and ordered their delivery to different addresses.

During searches, law enforcement seized detonators, components of the explosive device, mobile phones, and SIM cards from them.

What punishment awaits?

The suspects have been informed of their suspicion for an attempted terrorist act by a group of individuals acting in concert (Part 2 of Article 15, Part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

They are currently in custody and face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
