Trudeau on Canadian troops' involvement in the peacekeeping mission in Ukraine: "Everything is on the table."

The Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, has not ruled out the possibility of deploying Canadian troops to Ukraine as part of a potential peacekeeping mission after the war concludes.

This statement was made following a summit in London focused on Ukraine, as reported by Sky News and Guardian.

Trudeau emphasized that it was "important for Canada to stand together with allies" when discussing Ukraine's defense capabilities.

He also pointed out that Canada has been "one of the strongest supporters of Ukraine" since the Russian invasion in 2014, having trained "up to 40,000 Ukrainian military personnel" over the past decade.

Regarding the deployment of Canadian troops to Ukraine as part of a peacekeeping mission, the Prime Minister stated: "Everything is on the table."

"We are not looking to preempt discussions on how to maintain peace that does not yet exist, but Canada will be there and is open to doing whatever is necessary,” Trudeau emphasized.

More on the London Summit

On March 2, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer hosted 19 European and Canadian leaders at a summit in the UK to discuss Russia's war against Ukraine and broader European security.

This meeting was a continuation of summits held on February 17 and 19 at the initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris. However, it took place against the backdrop of a dispute between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Donald Trump.

After the summit, Starmer announced that the UK, France, and other countries agreed to work with Ukraine on a peace plan that would subsequently be presented to the US.

He also announced the formation of a "coalition of willing" to protect Ukraine and ensure peace.
