Trump announced that Putin wants to meet with him: "We'll make it happen."

The Republican made this statement during his press conference, quoted by Reuters.

“President Putin wants to meet, and we are arranging that. He even said it publicly, and we need to put an end to this war. It’s a bloody mess,” Trump stated.

At the same time, the newly elected U.S. leader did not specify when such a meeting might take place but clarified that any such meeting would occur after his inauguration, scheduled for January 20.

Recall that during his previous press conference, Trump mentioned that he is aware of Russian leader Vladimir Putin's desire to meet with him. However, he considers it "inappropriate" to meet before his inauguration on January 20.

Notably, on November 10, 2024, the Washington Post reported, citing sources, that Trump spoke on the phone with Putin, advising against escalating the situation. However, the Kremlin denied this information.

During the annual year-end press conference on December 19, the head of Russia stated that he had not communicated with Trump for more than four years. After the Republican's victory in the elections, the Kremlin leader publicly congratulated him.
