Trump stated he would negotiate a reduction in oil prices to help end the war in Ukraine.

The American president made this statement during his speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, which is broadcasted by "Suspilne".

According to him, he is surprised that this was not agreed upon earlier — even before the U.S. elections. Trump is convinced that if the price of oil drops, the war between Russia and Ukraine will "cease immediately".

"We also understand in a certain way that we are responsible, and right now millions of lives are being lost," he stated.

Additionally, the U.S. president reiterated that his team is working on establishing a ceasefire in Ukraine, as millions of soldiers "are littering the plains of Ukraine with their corpses". He expressed hope that a decision on this matter will be ready soon.

Recently, Trump threatened Russia with taxes, tariffs, and sanctions on everything it sells to the U.S. and other countries if Moscow does not stop the war against Ukraine and does not reach a peace agreement.

Earlier, the special envoy of the elected U.S. president for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, stated that he aims to find a solution to the war within 100 days after Trump's inauguration. He assured that Trump "is not trying to give anything to Putin or the Russians", but is striving to "preserve Ukraine and its sovereignty".

Bloomberg, citing sources, reported that during any possible negotiations with Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin will insist that Ukraine becomes a neutral state and that the occupied territories remain with Russia.
