Pentagon Press Secretary Pat Ryder stated this during a briefing.
According to him, equipment amounting to nearly $3.7 billion has been allocated under the Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA) programs.
67% of the air defense funds that have been transferred over the past six months include, in particular, Stinger and Hawk missiles. Additionally, during this period, 83% of munitions, including 155mm caliber shells, multiple launch rocket systems, Patriot anti-tank missile systems, NASAMS, and rockets have been delivered to Ukraine. Furthermore, 60% of fire support means — small diameter bombs and 105mm caliber munitions — have also been supplied.
Ryder assured that the promised equipment takes several days or weeks to ship. If any weapon requires repairs, it is sent immediately after that. He also stated that the delivery of strategic air defense systems, which the U.S. and allies committed to provide at the NATO summit, is nearly complete.
As a reminder, in the spring, the U.S. approved a law for assistance to Ukraine exceeding $60 billion. The main tool of this legislation is the Presidential Drawdown Authority — a presidential directive allowing the U.S. President to transfer defense goods and services from U.S. stocks in response to emergencies.
Of the overall assistance package, the PDA encompasses $7.8 billion. A significant portion of this amount has not yet been utilized, despite the fiscal year ending on September 30. These funds could "expire", however, the Biden administration has approached Congress with a request to extend the PDA until 2025.
