Defense forces intercepted five missiles and dozens of drones launched by Russia since last night.

This was reported by the command of the Ukrainian Air Forces.

Since the evening of December 19, the Russian troops have launched the following against Ukraine:

• the "Iskander-M" ballistic missile from the Rostov region of Russia;
• the guided air-to-surface missile X-59/69 from the airspace of the Kursk region;
• 65 Shahed-type strike UAVs and drones of other types from the areas of Bryansk, Millerovo, Orel, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia.

The air assault was countered by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, mobile fire groups of the Air Force, and the Defense Forces of Ukraine.

As of 9:30, the downing of 40 Shahed-type strike UAVs and drones of other types has been confirmed in the Kursk, Poltava, Sumy, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions.

Due to the active resistance of the Defense Forces, 20 enemy imitation drones were lost without negative consequences.

As a result of the overnight Russian attack, private homes, apartment buildings, medical facilities, storage premises, and farms were damaged in the Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, Kyiv, and Kharkiv regions.

On the morning of December 20, the attacks continued. Russian forces struck Kyiv around 7:00 with five "Iskander-M"/KN-23 ballistic missiles. The launches were carried out from the Voronezh and Bryansk regions of Russia.

Air defense shot down all five missiles. However, their debris caused destruction in five districts of the capital. There are casualties and injuries.

“We urge citizens to react immediately to reports of threats of ballistic weapon use, as there is very little time to find shelter. Follow the recommendations of emergency services, and take care of yourself and your loved ones,” the defenders called.
