As a result of the summit in London, the possibility of utilizing mechanisms from the North Atlantic Treaty is being considered as one of the security guarantees for Ukraine.

However, the specific mechanisms in question are not clarified. Article 4 of the North Atlantic Treaty provides for consultations in the event of a threat to territorial integrity, while Article 5 establishes the principle of collective defense.

Additionally, the President's Office stated that there is a clear stance that any potential ceasefire must be underpinned by strong security guarantees.

The ceasefire should begin with a prisoner exchange and the return of children. This step will demonstrate Russia's genuine intentions regarding peace, the administration of Volodymyr Zelensky explained.

Moreover, the Office of the President noted that the leaders discussed the importance of the United States in ensuring adequate support and collaboration to end the war.

On March 2, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer convened 18 heads of state and government and leaders of international institutions from Europe, Canada, and Turkey for a summit in London. They discussed support for the Ukrainian defense industry and agreed to extend sanctions against Russia.

After the summit concluded, Starmer stated that the United Kingdom, France, and other countries agreed to work with Ukraine on a peace plan that would later be presented to the United States.

Starmer also announced the formation of a "coalition of the willing" to protect Ukraine and guarantee peace. According to Starmer, each country will decide for itself what contribution it will make.

This meeting followed the summits held on February 17 and 19 at the initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris and occurred against the backdrop of a dispute between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and U.S. President Donald Trump.

The next meeting of European leaders will take place soon, during which a new enhanced defense plan for Europe is expected to be presented.
